LOCATION: NIAGARA FALLS SITE
HOURS OF WORK: MONDAY-FRIDAY, AVAILABILITY IS REQUIRED FOR DAYS, AFTERNOONS, NIGHTS, WEEKENDS, AND STATUTORY HOLIDAYS. SHIFTS MAY BE OFFERED IN ADVANCE OR ARISE ON SHORT NOTICE, INCLUDING LAST-MINUTE CALL-INS, BASED ON OPERATIONAL NEEDS

WAGE RANGE: $27.610 TO $29.609 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Manager of the District Stroke Program, the successful candidate will provide confidential secretarial, administrative and clerical support. Programs included in responsibilities are: District Stroke, Stroke Prevention Clinic, and Stroke Rapid Referral. Responsibilities include scheduling of all appointments with Referral Management, data input in several data bases to ensure accurate reporting, maintaining and filing confidential records, ordering and maintenance of program inventory. The successful candidate will receive and direct incoming patients and respond to general public inquiries. They will also support Neurology Office requests from both staff and Physicians. This position may include work assignments throughout various sites of Niagara Health with the base being at the Niagara Falls Site.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or Medical Terminology Certificate and equivalent in related experience
o Working experience transcribing and/or understanding/utilizing medical terminology
o Minimum one year related clerical experience in a high volume, fast paced department within a health care/clinical setting
o Minimum one year experience with computer software including Kronos, Microsoft Office programs, order entry, Meditech, Millennium and Accuro
o Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 50 w.p.m.
o Provincial Data/Report entry
o Experience with scanning of health records
o Experience and efficiency transcribing Physician orders
o Experience with stroke terminology an asset
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
o Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health Privacy Policy
o Demonstrated professional attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
o Travel between sites when required
o Consistent and regular attendance required
