WAGE RANGE: $69.960 TO $79.910 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Nurse Practitioner will provides comprehensive, patient-centred care within the Emergency Department. Working in collaboration with Emergency Physicians and the interprofessional team, the NP is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients across the care continuum. Reporting to the Director, Emergency Services, the NP integrates clinical expertise with leadership, education, research, and quality improvement to support excellence in care delivery. The role emphasizes timely access, patient flow, health promotion, illness prevention, and evidence-informed practice. The successful candidate's home site will be at the Niagara Falls Site with the requirement to work at other Niagara Health sites as operationally required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (RN(EC)) - Primary Health Care or Adult
o Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
o Completion of CNO approved controlled substances education
o Current professional liability protection (RNAO or equivalent)
o 3-5 years of clinical experience with a minimum of 2 years recent emergency medicine, including Triage (CTAS) experience
o Demonstrated expertise in advanced assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and complex patients
o Evidence of strong clinical leadership and collaboration skills within an interprofessional environment
o Proven ability to support quality improvement, research, and evidence-informed practice
o Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making abilities
o Evidence of effective communication, coaching, and mentorship skills
o Commitment to patient and family centred care and professional practice standards
o Experience providing autonomous and collaborative care including comprehensive assessment, ordering/interpreting diagnostics, diagnosis, and therapeutic management
o Experience supporting patient flow and ED efficiency through timely clinical decision-making while managing a broad range of urgent and emergent conditions within NP scope of practice
o Ability to collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional team to ensure safe, coordinated, high-quality care
o Experience participating in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and evaluation of clinical outcomes
o Contribute to education, research activities, and implementation of evidence-based practices
o Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Consistent and regular attendance required
