POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the Manager of Spiritual & Religious Care, this position will provide spiritual and religious care to patients, families, staff and volunteers at the Welland and Port Colborne sites. The candidate is responsible to provide spiritual care, counsel and crisis response to enhance the well-being of patients, families and staff to strengthen Niagara Health's commitment to provide holistic care by attending to the spiritual and psychosocial needs of the community. The successful incumbents homesite will be the Welland Site with travel to all sites required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Completion of a Master's degree program in Theology or Spiritual Care
o Membership with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS) is required
o Preference will be given to candidates who are Certified in Spiritual Care with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS) or those who have completed Advanced Level II CPE training with CASC/ACSS
o Registration (or in the process of registering) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
o Up to two (2) years of relevant clinical experience
o Continuing good standing in a faith community affiliated with the candidate's religious tradition
o Superior knowledge of issues, principles and practices related to spiritual and religious care
o Evidence of effective organizational, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills
o Good working knowledge of Professional and Clinical Ethics
o Ability to work effectively within an inter-professional team
o Multicultural and multi-faith sensitivity and awareness of various faith practices and rituals
o Ability to plan and engage patients in regular spiritual services
o Interest in providing education of Spiritual Care
o Consistent and regular attendance required
