HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD; MONDAY - FRIDAY

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote clinical excellence, quality patient and family centred care, and high professional standards, the Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, holistic care to neonatal and paediatric patients across the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Paediatrics in both inpatient and outpatient care settings. Utilizing advanced knowledge and skills in health assessment, diagnosis, and management, as well as health promotion and disease prevention, the Nurse Practitioner delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence based, and family centred care across the continuum. The Nurse Practitioner practices within a collaborative care model with physician partner(s) and functions as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team. The role encompasses the core competencies of advanced nursing practice including clinical practice, research, education, leadership, and collaboration, consultation, and referral.
In partnership with program and medical leadership, the Nurse Practitioner contributes to improving the quality, safety, and consistency of patient care across the Niagara region, with a focus on Continuous Quality Improvement. This includes supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines, as well as advancing ongoing learning and staff competency development such as simulation, mock drills, and interdisciplinary education across NICU and Paediatric services in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class
o Master's degree in nursing required
o Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
o Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
o Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification
o Minimum of five years recent clinical experience in neonatal and paediatric care across inpatient and outpatient settings with exposure to high acuity, complex neonatal and/or paediatric patient populations required
o Demonstrated ability to conduct advanced, comprehensive health assessments for neonatal and paediatric patient populations, including evaluation of growth, development, nutrition and feeding, and common acute and chronic paediatric health conditions, with formulation of evidence informed, family centred plans of care
o Demonstrated clinical expertise and sound judgment in assessment, diagnosis and therapeutics, practicing autonomously within legislated scope and professional standards
o Demonstrated ability to provide effective clinical consultation and to lead, coordinate, and optimize patient care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
o Proven ability to coach and support interdisciplinary teams in the development and communication of integrated, patient centred plans of care
o Demonstrated experience in program development, quality improvement, and change initiatives using a collaborative and stakeholder engaged approach
o Commitment to professional development, ongoing education, quality improvement, and integration of research into clinical practice
o Strong organizational, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills
o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex clinical environment
o Commitment to the mission, values, and strategic priorities of Niagara Health and to delivering extraordinary care
o Proficiency with computer applications
o Willingness to work flexible hours to meet patient and program needs
o Valid Ontario driver's license and access to reliable transportation
o Consistent and regular attendance required
