STATUS: CASUAL PART TIME

LOCATION: 264 WELLAND AVENUE, ST. CATHARINRES
HOURS OF WORK: AVAILABILITY IS REQUIRED FOR DAYS, AFTERNOONS, NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND STATUTORY HOLIDAYS. SHIFTS MAY BE OFFERED IN ADVANCE OR ARISE ON SHORT NOTICE, INCLUDING LAST MINUTE CALL-INS, BASED ON OPERATIONAL NEEDS

UNION: SERVICE EMPLOYEE'S INTERNATIONAL UNION-SERVICE
WAGE RANGE: $28.161 to $29.642 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the ABC Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will provide group facilitation and psycho-educational/positive parenting skills programming, including resource information and group-work preparation as well as child supervision, clinical support and community collaboration functions. The position is also responsible for clinical documentation and program administrative functions. Shift rotations are subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Early Childhood Education Diploma
o Two years direct child care experience
o Trained in the provision of evidence-based parenting classes
o Current Certificate in C.P.R. and First Aid, including infant/child C.P.R.
o Individual counselling and group facilitation experience required
o Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
o Must have good interpersonal skills sufficient to relate to clients with an attitude of compassion and understanding which is non-patronizing and that will encourage clients to talk, to build highly supportive individual relationships with clients quickly
o Must have good client assessment skills and awareness of the clients' stage of readiness for change.
o Must have excellent listening and observation skills sufficient to be able to accurately summarize and report to the Supervisor the clients' behaviour and interactions
o Knowledge of the principles, theories and practice of substance abuse and the recovery from substance abuse as well as knowledge of the lifestyle of people who have experienced addiction problems
o Must have knowledge of community agencies, facilities and programs available to enhance positive parenting skills and/or child development initiatives for families and children ages 0-6 years
o Must have the ability to work in a stressful environment with rapidly changing demands
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skills
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o Consistent and regular attendance required
