NH has a 10-year strategic plan with initiatives and targets confirmed annually. The newly-created role of Vice President Strategy, Planning and Stakeholder Engagement will be pivotal to the success of the Strategic Plan, by developing a framework and designing a strategic planning process that engages the Board, the executive team as well as the leadership group to translate the strategy into annual and multi-year operating plans. In addition, the VP will be responsible for developing a government relations and stakeholder engagement plan to establish and nurture community relationships. Reporting directly to the President, and as a member of the executive team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with front line staff, leaders, the executive team, the Board of Directors and community leaders to achieve organizational goals.
Specifically, the VP, Strategy, Planning and Stakeholder Engagement is responsible for:
o Designing a framework for strategic and corporate planning including development and reporting cycles.
o Leading the annual planning cycle, engaging with colleagues and teams to ensure metrics are established and monitored, and that operational plans are aligned with strategic objectives.
o Ensuring budget, workforce, technology and communications plans are aligned with strategy, and that risks are identified and mitigated where possible.
o Working with Finance and Decision Support, identifying the information, insights, and market intelligence to support corporate performance in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
o Establishing a Project Management Office (PMO) to support individual strategic and corporate priorities. The Project managers support client work on strategic initiatives, reporting to an initiative lead sponsor, and to the PMO for standards, approach to planning and reporting.
Stakeholder/Government Relations
o The primary focus of this role is on developing and implementing a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan that helps identify key stakeholders to establish and nurture community relationships. The plan will assign the lead relationship manager for various key stakeholders and develop a common framework for connecting and reporting on engagement activities.
o Responsible for engaging key stakeholders at the provincial, regional and local governments on a variety of initiatives as required.
Leadership
o Leads a team of professionals in the delivery of the role's mandate.
o Coaches and mentors team members to help them realize their potential.
o Respectfully holds people accountable for their deliverables.
o This role's success is dependent on working collaboratively with others and fostering effective relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Education
o A minimum of 10 years leadership experience.
o Proven track record in strategic plan development, implementation, monitoring and reporting, preferably in the broader public sector.
o Demonstrated experience in effective stakeholder planning and engagement, including government relations.
o Deep understanding of the health care system and experience working in complex clinical environments.
o Master's degree in healthcare administration, business or related field or a combination of formal education and experience.
o PMP designation or demonstrated experience in project management leadership for complex multi-user group projects.
