POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Director of Diagnostic Services, the Flow Supervisor, Medical Imaging plays a key role within the Medical Imaging team, supporting the efficient coordination of patient flow across outpatient, emergency department (ED), and inpatient services. As part of Niagara Health's regional Medical Imaging program, the Flow Supervisor is responsible for optimizing access, utilization, and load balancing across multiple sites. This role works collaboratively with leaders, charge technologists, radiologists, nursing staff, clinical teams, and referring providers to ensure timely access to imaging services across all modalities.
The Flow Supervisor supports the effective scheduling and movement of patients, helping to minimize delays and ensure that imaging studies and procedures are completed within appropriate timelines. This position is accountable for monitoring patient flow, managing wait times, and analyzing performance data to identify opportunities for improvement. Through strong coordination, communication, and data-informed decision-making, the Flow Supervisor contributes to enhancing patient experience, improving operational efficiency, and supporting high-quality care delivery across the region. Travel between sites required.
Your Role:
As the Flow Supervisor of Medical Imaging, you will:
o Daily coordination of patient flow across all Medical Imaging modalities
o Optimize scheduling practices and real-time workflow management to reduce wait times, prevent bottlenecks, and maximize resource utilization across multiple sites
o Provide leadership and day-to-day operational management for clerical staff within our patient scheduling/registration team
o Monitor patient volumes, wait times, and operational performance metrics; analyze trends and implement data-driven strategies to improve throughput and service delivery
o Proactively identify and resolve workflow issues, delays, and capacity constraints to maintain optimal patient flow and service standards
o Support the coordination of urgent and priority imaging requests, ensuring timely escalation and communication when needed
o Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience, operational efficiency, and clinical outcomes within Medical Imaging
o Act as a key point of contact for real-time operational issues, providing leadership and decision-making support during high-demand or complex situations
o Collaborating with regional and external partners
o Maintaining updates to Millenium Patient Schedules
o Apply a systems-thinking approach to patient flow across sites
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field with active registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) or health related professional college
o Masters degree preferred
o Project Management experience, PMP preferred
o Minimum 3 years' experience in a Diagnostic Imaging environment (hospital or other complex organization)
o Experience leading quality improvement activities, including monitoring and reporting progress updates
o Lean, Six Sigma or comparable process/quality improvement training considered an asset
o Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Windows, Sectra, and Cerner
o Proficiency with information technology and network infrastructure with understanding of related software programs required
o Excellent analytical and interpretation skills along with demonstrated experience in problem solving and conflict resolution
o Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
o Excellent communication, organizational and training skills required
o Ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team of professionals in an ever-changing, fast paced environment with a focus on patient experience and safety.
o Consistent and regular attendance required
