WAGE RANGE: $39.16 TO $50.77 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Walker Family Cancer Centre social worker provides comprehensive clinical social work services to Oncology patients and their families. Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team setting, the Social Worker will provide individual and family assessments, counselling and therapy. Additional duties will include the provision of practical assistance, patient education and community referrals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor's degree in Social Work
o Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
o Minimum of two years' experience working with adults in the inpatient or outpatient hospital setting
o Excellent documentation skills as per OCSWSSW standards of practice and hospital policies and procedures
o Demonstrated professionalism and communication skills
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking and decision making skills
o Ability to work with minimal supervision
o Understanding and knowledge of community resources in the Niagara Region
o Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation that relate to the client population (e.g. Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, PHIPA, Child and Family Services Act, etc.)
o Knowledge of and adherence to professional practice standards regarding best practice interventions, client care/service delivery as well as professional conduct (i.e. professional boundaries, confidentiality, etc.)
o Understanding of diversity and its' impact on vulnerable populations and service delivery, including, but not limited to, gender and sexual identity, ethnicity, spirituality, culture
o Basic computer literacy skills
o Consistent and regular attendance required
