HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD

WAGE RANGE: $49.897 to $58.684 per hour

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Health Informatics Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for all end-users of the HIS at Niagara Health. Working closely with the Health Informatics and operational teams, the HIS Trainer will ensure that clinical and non-clinical staff are proficient in utilizing the system to enhance patient care and streamline hospital operations. The role will involve curriculum development, delivering training sessions, providing post-training support, and collaborating with the Health Informatics team to ensure that the training aligns with system updates and best practices. The role may include extended hours or on-call responsibilities during key phases of HIS implementation (e.g., Go-Live), system updates or emergencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training Program Development:
o Design, develop, and update HIS training materials, including curriculum, user guides, e-learning modules, job aids, and quick reference materials tailored to various user groups (e.g., physicians, nurses, administrative staff)
o Customize training content based on role-specific workflows and responsibilities to ensure relevance and effectiveness
o Work with subject matter experts and the Health Informatics team to ensure that training content reflects current best practices and system capabilities
Training Delivery:
o Deliver in-person and virtual HIS training sessions for all end-users, including clinical and non-clinical staff, ensuring they have the skills needed to effectively use the HIS
o Conduct initial training for new hires and provide ongoing refresher courses for current staff as system updates are released
o Facilitate one-on-one or small group sessions for staff requiring additional support or role-specific training
End-User Support:
o Provide just-in-time training and support for staff, particularly during critical times such as system updates or post-Go-Live phases
o Serve as a point of contact for end-users to answer HIS-related questions, troubleshoot issues, and offer solutions.
o Work with the IT and Clinical Informatics teams to identify and resolve user issues that affect system adoption and workflow integration
Evaluation and Feedback:
o Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, user feedback, and performance metrics
o Continuously refine and improve training content and delivery methods based on feedback and changing system functionality
o Track user proficiency and provide additional training as necessary to address gaps in knowledge or skills
Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with Health Informatics, Clinical Informatics, IT, and clinical leaders to ensure alignment between system functionality and user training
o Stay updated on HIS enhancements, system updates, and best practices, incorporating these changes into training materials and sessions
o Communicate with department managers and leaders to schedule training sessions and ensure appropriate staff participation
Training Resources and Technology:
o Utilize various training platforms and tools, including learning management systems (LMS), to deliver effective e-learning and track training completion
o Maintain a library of up-to-date training materials, ensuring easy access for end-users
o Provide post-training support, ensuring users have ongoing access to self-service training resources

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
o Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Education or a related field
o Certification in Health Informatics, Clinical Education, or related discipline is an asset
Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in training development and delivery, preferably within a healthcare or hospital setting
o Experience working with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) Oracle Health with a strong understanding of clinical workflows
o Proven track record of developing and delivering successful training programs in a healthcare environment
Skills:
o Excellent presentation, facilitation, and instructional design skills
o Strong communication skills to effectively train a diverse group of end-users, including clinicians and administrative staff
o Proficient in using training technology, such as learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms
o Ability to troubleshoot and resolve HIS-related issues as they arise during training sessions
o Strong organizational skills for managing training schedules, materials, and tracking user progress
Key Competencies:
o Instructional Design Expertise: Ability to develop engaging, role-specific training programs that enhance user competence and confidence in using the HIS
o Communication and Facilitation: Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to present complex information in an understandable way for diverse user groups
o Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying training gaps, troubleshooting issues, and finding innovative solutions to improve system adoption
o Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust training programs as system functionalities evolve or user needs change
