HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD; MONDAY - FRIDAY

WAGE RANGE: $68.42 TO $78.14 PER PAY PERIOD
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote clinical excellence, quality patient/family-centered care and high professional standards, the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive, holistic, family-centred care to neonatal patients in an acute care setting through the use of advanced skills, knowledge and education in health assessment, diagnoses and management, health promotion and disease prevention. The Neonatal NP works in a collaborative practice model with his/her physician partner(s) and within an interdisciplinary team environment. The role encompasses the core competencies of advanced nursing practice: clinical practice; research; education; leadership; and collaboration/consultation/referral. The successful applicant will work with the program leadership to improve the quality and safety of patient care across the Niagara region, with a focus on Continuous Quality Improvement, ensuring evidence-based policies/procedures/guidelines are implemented, and supporting ongoing learning and staff competencies (i.e. simulation, mock drills, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario - Extended Class
o Master's Degree in Nursing required
o Accredited Nurse Practitioner program in advanced neonatal care
o Current BCLS
o Current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification
o Recent 5 years' of related clinical experience in neonatal care
o Applies knowledge, skills and judgment to meet nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses
o Demonstrated ability to coach interdisciplinary teams in the development and communication of an integrated and patient-centered plan of care
o Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the provision of effective clinical consultation
o Demonstrated skill in program development using a collaborative, stakeholder engaged process
o Demonstrated clinical leadership skills to organize and co-ordinate the care of patients in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
o Proven success in providing clinical leadership in a team environment and ability to encourage innovation and creativity amongst team members required
o Ability to be self-directed in clinical practice as required in the areas of assessment, diagnosis and therapeutics
o Demonstrated commitment to professional development, ongoing education, quality improvement and integration of research into clinical practice
o Demonstrated ability to conduct advanced focus on comprehensive health history, mental health and addiction assessment with identification of health needs and formulation of evidence-informed plan of care
o Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
o Ability to foster collaborative working relationships
o Must be willing to work flexible hours to reflect patient population needs
o Ability to promote professional education and advance knowledge through research
o Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the Niagara Health
o Commitment to customer service excellence
o Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office
o Must maintain valid Ontario driver's license and have access to reliable transportation
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) would be considered an asset
o Consistent and regular attendance required
