HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD; MONDAY-FRIDAY

WAGE RANGE: $48.49 TO $55.81 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Regional Manager of Infection Prevention and Control, the Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with the mission, vision and goals of Infection Prevention and Control program for Niagara Health.

As a key member of our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team, The ICP, will be a change agent responsible for the hands-on design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based IPAC practices. This role requires an individual with demonstrated expertise and a passion for protecting our patients and staff through proactive, data-driven strategies and education; in alignment with best practice standards and guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Degree in health sciences and or regulated healthcare professional
o Minimum of three years of direct, hands-on experience in an Infection Prevention and Control role within a hospital or public health setting
o Must have successfully completed an IPAC-Canada endorsed course and hold a current Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) CIC certification (Certification in Infection Control)
o Experienced in conducting HAI/In-Hospital investigations, infection surveillance, outbreak management and provide education across the healthcare continuum
o Strong analytical and critical thinker with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and develop innovative solutions to IPAC challenges
o Must have excellent attention to detail, communication skills, tack and diplomacy skills
o Ability to design, implement and report research findings to a variety of partners an asset
o Working knowledge of microbiology, infectious diseases, epidemiology, facility design/construction/renovation, cleaning and disinfection, reprocessing, occupational health and safety and adult education principles
o Familiarity with IPAC guidelines, Accreditation and CSA standards, and applicable regulations
o Proven proficiency in infectious disease surveillance software (e.g., Millenium Cerner, IPAC Administrator, or other specific systems) and data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI).
o Able to work independently requiring minimal supervision, shows initiative and self-directed while possessing the ability to work in a collaborative manner
o Excellent verbal and communication skills
o Consistent and regular attendance is required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
