POSITION OBJECTIVE:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Trades Maintenance to join our interdisciplinary facilities management team within a hospital setting. This role supports a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment by performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks across multiple skilled trades, including mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection systems, electrical, carpentry, and door hardware. Reporting to the Manager of Facility Services, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure that facility systems operate reliably and in compliance with all applicable healthcare standards. Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices in a hospital setting considered a strong asset. The incumbent will demonstrate a strong commitment to the NH's mission, vision, and values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, HVAC equipment, fire protection systems, electrical infrastructure, doors, locks, and building finishes as assigned and any other duties as assigned by the site supervisor
o Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team, including clinical staff, infection control professionals, environmental services, and others.
o Ensure maintenance activities are performed in a manner that minimizes disruption to patient care and aligns with hospital infection control and safety protocols.
o Respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
o Conduct facility inspections and participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives.
o Support testing and maintenance of life safety systems, including fire alarms, suppression systems, and emergency lighting.
o Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment service logs in accordance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements using the CMMS.
o Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
o Adhere to all occupational health and safety practices and assist in emergency preparedness efforts where needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Grade 12 education or Equivalent
o Community College Certificate in Facility Maintenance
o Recognized training and education in plumbing, electrical, mechanical and welding Is and asset
o Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a general maintenance or trades role, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
o Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in mechanical systems, pluming, HVAC, fire systems, basic electrical, carpentry, and door hardware.
o Strong understanding of safety codes and healthcare facility regulations; familiarity with IPAC principles in a hospital environment is an asset.
o Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and within a team.
o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maintenance manuals, and safety procedures.
o Relevant trade certifications or licenses are preferred (e.g., HVAC, electrical, fire systems, plumbing, locksmith).
o Comfortable working in patient care areas and sensitive environments while maintaining professionalism and discretion
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS:
o Ability to lift, carry, and handle tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.
o Must be able to work on ladders and in mechanical rooms.
o Must be available for all shifts including weekends, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
o Consistent and regular attendance required
