LOCATION: MAROTTA FAMILY HOSPITAL, ST. CATHARINES SITE
HOURS OF WORK: ON-CALL AS NEEDED

UNION: ONTARIO PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYEE'S UNION
WAGE RANGE: $36.84 to $50.24 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote excellence, quality patient/client care and high professional standards, the Polysomnographer will be responsible for preparing the patient for sleep study, monitoring sleep stages, cardiopulmonary and limb movement, EEG and transcutaneous CO2 levels. Using a variety of monitoring devises and instrumentation required for sleep studies and scoring sleep study results. The objective of the Polysomnographer is to provide safe and competent care through the application of practical knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. This position requires on site presence and the ability to work nights and weekends for titration of sleep studies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) is mandatory
o Completion of a recognized Polysomnographic Technologist program
o Two years related clinical experience working as a Polysomnographer in the past five years.
o Ability to work to the full scope of practice as a Polysomnographer
o Ability to titrate CPAP and Bipap during sleep studies
o Current BCLS certification
o Demonstrated proficiency in scoring sleep studies
o Evidence of continuing education
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgement and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting professional practice standards as outlined by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists and related professional associations
o Applied Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education, expanded scope of practice and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Working knowledge of computers
o Consistent and regular attendance required
