WAGE RANGE: $44.67 to $57.90 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Program (OPMHAP) is looking for a MSW to support our program. The MSW will provide care within a collaborative and inter-professional clinical team environment that reflects recovery/client-centred care principles and values.

The successful applicant will provide support to the outpatient mental health department with the primary responsibilities of: supportive group counseling, education; system navigation; disposition support; follow up and supportive counselling; program and system development; intake and screening assessments; evaluation to ensure clients are referred and connected to the most appropriate program (s); participation in team/department meetings and other duties as prescribed. The successful applicant will facilitate/co-facilitate group counseling sessions, assess mental status, assess/monitor risk status, respond to questions regarding referral and discharge process, provide crisis support, coordinate additional referrals as required and to identify/support the need for further contact and intervention. The successful applicant will utilize various therapeutic modalities based on best practices for individuals living mental health and addictions issues that include skill building, CBT/DBT approaches, trauma and concurrent disorders, motivational interviewing, psycho-education, interpersonal effectiveness and recovery strategies. The successful candidate will be proficient in facilitating Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and a sound working knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance Commitment and Trauma-Informed approaches. The successful candidate will provide therapeutic interventions in a group setting with some individual support, as required. In addition, provide support and education to clients and their families affected by mental illness and/or addictions through collaboration with internal and external partners. Niagara Falls will be the primary site but will support day regional day hospital programs and regional adult group therapy at all sites.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OSWSSW) in good standing, required
o A minimum of three (3) years related clinical experience in a mental health setting working with individuals and families living with complex mental health issues required
o Formal education in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy required with an asset having Motivational Therapy and/or Acceptance Commitment Therapy
o Demonstrated knowledge with two (2) years' experience in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, in a clinical mental health setting required
o Demonstrated experience in facilitating psychotherapeutic groups, specific to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma Therapy required
o A minimum of one (1) year previous experience in providing crisis support and management required
o Requires extensive knowledge of Niagara Health's Outpatient Mental Health and Addiction services, community mental health and addiction resources
o Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial mental health assessments (including mental status examination, risk assessment and substance use assessments) required
o Demonstrates superior knowledge in engaging with patients and/or families who may be reluctant to seek help and establish rapport in various scenarios
o Strong ability to build effective internal and external partnerships to support care planning, care transitions, and OMHAP system development
o Good understanding of mental health diagnoses and a basic working knowledge of psychotropic medications
o Demonstrated knowledge of OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the OSWSSW
o Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
o Demonstrated commitment to professional development, ongoing education and integration of research into clinical practice
o Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
o Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills
o Ability to foster collaborative working relationships, as part of the inter-professional team, and able to work independently
o Applies NH values, professional practice standards, recovery/client-centred philosophy to patient care and service
o Current SMG (Safe Management Group) or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required
o Must be willing to work flexible hours to reflect patient population needs
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
