HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD

WAGE RANGE: $40.116 TO $45.388 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Manager of Labour Relations, the Labour Relations Advisor will be a member of the team providing labour relations services in support of the organization's goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of labour relations and will provide guidance and support to directors and managers on a wide variety of issues and the administration of the Hospital's six collective agreements. Working with the Labour Relations Consultant, the successful candidate will also participate in committee meetings, grievance meetings and investigations. This is a busy function with multiple and conflicting priorities. This position, based in Welland, involves travel between the sites of the Hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Post-secondary education related to Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or Labour Relations
o Completion of or demonstrated progress towards a CHRP designation preferred
o 1-3 years' demonstrated experience in labour relations, including handling grievances, providing advice to managers concerning collective agreement language and conflict resolution
o Knowledge of employment related legislation and current employment practices
o Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective presentation skills, proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills, along with a strong work ethic
o Good working knowledge of all Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel and Access)
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills
o Committed to continuous learning (internal and external to the organization)
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
o Consistent and regular attendance required
