Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, Practice, Clinical Support and Chief Nursing Executive, the Director, Interprofessional Practice, Ethics, Spiritual Care & Clinical Nutrition provides strategic and professional leadership to regulated health professional staff. By setting a vision and promoting a collaborative, interprofessional practice environment, the Director will create a team environment that is focused on organizational goals, quality outcomes, and the patient experience. The incumbent will be responsible for facilitating excellence in clinical practice through inspired leadership in interprofessional practice. This position will be located primarily at the St. Catharines Site however travel will be required to other sites as required.
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, results oriented leader who consistently demonstrates an innovative, creative, and collaborative management style.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
o Sets the vision and leads in the design, implementation, and evaluation of structures and processes to advance non-nursing interprofessional, collaborative practice, clinical and organizational ethics, Spiritual Care, and clinical nutrition
o Manages budget and variance reporting for portfolio
o Provides oversight and direction to the integration of non-nursing profession specific regulatory standards into organizational practices
o Provides oversight and direction to the design and implementation of care delivery models that enable full scope of practice across professions
o Sets evidence informed clinical practice standards and maintains clinical policies and procedures to enable best patient outcomes
o In collaboration with Program Directors, Managers and Clinical Educators monitors quality of clinical care and acts on clinical practice improvement opportunities through strategic and responsive policies, processes, and educational activities
o Leads the development of policies and procedures and key project initiatives including the associated process changes and education required
o Develops, updates, and evaluates interprofessional practice orientation and onboarding strategies creating synergy and standardization across programs and professions
o Provides oversight and direction to clinical ethics initiatives and the integration of evidence based practice and best practice guidelines
o Supports initiatives related to the RNAO BPSO program accountabilities and NQuIRE participation
o Fosters professional development, scholarly inquiry, and continuous learning opportunities for interprofessional practice team members
o Provides oversight and consultation advice to Managers, Directors, and HR during review of incidents involving non-nursing professional practice of clinical staff
o Builds networks with partner academic institutions to achieve the academic plan
o Provides guidance for activities related to the professional advancement of non-nursing disciplines
o In collaboration with the Director, Information, Communication and Technology leads the standardization of clinical documentation and advances the electronic patient record
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possessing over 10 years' experience and progression in senior leadership roles in large, complex health care environments, the successful candidate will lead by example and champion Niagara Health's strategic priorities, vision and mission. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker who has proven success in introducing innovative, sustainable ideas and initiatives into the clinical environment and who has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's and Master's degree and will have current registration with a professional regulatory college and will:
o Demonstrate evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment and decision-making skills
o Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care and the overall patient experience
o Demonstrated commitment to patient and family education and the ability to promote health and wellness
o Integrates education, critical thinking, and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Consistent and regular attendance required
