POSITION OBJECTIVE:
As an integral member of the Pharmacy Department and patient care team, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible and accountable for supporting a safe, efficient and effective drug distribution system within the overall medication use process in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies. This may include, but is not limited to, preparing hazardous and non-hazardous sterile and non-sterile medications, packaging medications, billing and reconciliation, narcotic and controlled drug management and inventory control, managing patient medication profiles, all aspects of drug procurement and inventory management, liaising with nursing staff on patient care units, medication delivery to patient care units, final product checks. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the Medication Reconciliation process through the accurate gathering and documentation of a patient Best Possible Medication History (BPMH) and other quality improvement initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
o Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
o 6 months employment experience, within the last 2 years, using and maintaining pharmacy automation
o 6 months employment experience, within the last 2 years, using Meditech Pharmacy module
o 6 months employment experience, within the last 2 years, preparing sterile drugs required (both hazardous and non-hazardous).
o 6 months employment experience, within the last 2 years, as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital environment.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote excellence, quality patient/client care and high professional standards, the Anaesthestic Assistant is an integral member of the perioperative team the anesthesia assistant (AA) participates in the care of the patient during general, regional or local anesthesia. In addition to providing technical support to the anesthesiologist for complex anesthesia equipment, the anesthesia assistant administers anesthetic gases and medications, performs activities such as the provision of conscious sedation, and is responsible for the insertion and management of intravenous and arterial lines. The AA provides constant assessment and evaluative monitoring of the depth of anesthesia using medical directives, as applicable. An AA's skills are required primarily within the pre-operative, surgical suite, and post-operative care areas, but also within clinical diagnostic areas where procedures using anesthesia are conducted. The AA is also an integral member of the allied health team to which there are accountabilities for professional practice, education and research. The incumbent will perform all other relevant duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the unit to which she/he is assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:

o Two years related clinical experience in the past five years in an emergency environment
o Current BCLS certification
o ACLS, PALS and TNCC certification preferred
o Emergency Nursing certification (CNA) preferred
o Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale training preferred
o Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
o Certification in delegated controlled acts including; defibrillation, dispensing medication and application of energy
o Demonstrated proficiency in IV Therapy Initiation, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring/interpretation, and care of ventilated patients/clients
o Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment (Physical Assessment Course preferred)
o Demonstrated ability to develop an integrated plan of care
o Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation
o Current knowledge of emergency nursing standards in accordance with the National Emergency Nurses Affiliation (NENA)
o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Applies leadership skills by providing, facilitating and promoting quality patient care
o Demonstrated commitment to patient and family education and the ability to promote health and wellness
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and related professional associations
o Evidence of accurate, timely and appropriate documentation according to best practice guidelines and CNO standards
o Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Working knowledge of computers
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
