POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, the Environmental Services Aide will perform a variety of service related activities including office cleaning, public areas cleaning, support service locations and the removal, proper segregation, documentation, and transportation of general/biomedical waste. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the distribution and collection of linen, daily upkeep and maintenance of nursing units including patient rooms, ordering & stocking of housekeeping supplies, and operating cleaning equipment. The incumbent may be responsible for floor restoration, wall washing, curtain changes and isolation cleaning. Shift rotations are subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Minimum grade 12 or equivalent
o Previous experience working in an Environmental Services capacity, preferably in a Healthcare setting
o Knowledge of the use of proper body mechanics to meet the physical demands of the job, for prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling carts
o Knowledge and understanding of WHMIS
o Knowledge and understanding of the PIDAC Environmental Cleaning best practices
o Working knowledge of computers and entering online data i.e. Incident reporting
o Knowledge of the requirements and provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills
o Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
o Must be available for all shifts including weekends, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays

Key Responsibilities:
o Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient service delivery

o Monitor operational effectiveness using KPIs and uphold all regulatory and accreditation standards
o Develop and manage quality control and quality assurance programs

Regional Resource Centre Operator carries out all activities associated with smooth functioning of the hospital switchboard operation and Resource Centre operation by processing incoming/outgoing calls for all NH sites, providing information, paging, and responsibility for NH on call schedules, handling of all codes, and after hours paging for all NH on call staff. Staff are also responsible for communication when downtime and emergency procedures are in effect. Processing requests for maintenance, biomed and housekeeping for all NH sites, contacting on call staff for call backs using an online model, scheduling as required. Ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Post-Secondary Diploma
o One year related experience within Switchboard/Resource Centre, call centre, dispatching or clerical experience in a hospital setting
o One year with EZ Call, patient transport and on call process
o Demonstrated working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Outlook, AIMs, QFM, Arc Solutions and Meditech Systems
