POSITION OBJECTIVE:

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Physician Assistant will be a collaborative member of the Niagara Health Emergency Medicine program. POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to Executive Vice President, Clinical Operations, the Director, Medical Physics will provide leadership in clinical, educational, and research activities, while leading strategic and transformational change through the implementation of new technology, improvement of clinical processes and by ensuring program quality. This position will supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the Clinical Medical Physics Service for the Radiation Medicine Program at the Walker Family Cancer Centre (WFCC) through the application of physics to medicine. The Director, Medical Physics will work collaboratively with the Head of Radiation Oncology and the Manager of Radiation Therapy to provide optimal clinical workflow efficiency, high-quality and safe patient-centered care.

The Director, Medical Physics will provide oversight for quality assurance testing, commissioning and calibration of equipment used in the Radiation Medicine Program, provide direction towards new treatment techniques and/or technologies and advise radiation oncologists and dosimetrists as required. In addition, the successful candidate will carry out key management level duties, such as oversight of medical physics department daily operations, employee evaluation and work assignment, project management, radiation capital equipment procurement, manage capital and operational budgets, professional and technical mentorship of staff, recruitment, and internal/external collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

This position is eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment through the Department of Physics at Brock University for teaching and research related to novel methods of cancer diagnosis and/or therapy. In the future, the Director, Medical Physics will help coordinate an academic relationship with McMaster University through their CAMPEP-accredited graduate level and residency programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Ph.D. in Medical Physics or similar field required
o Canadian College of Physics in Medicine (CCPM) or American Board of Radiology (ABR) equivalent certification required
o Possession of CCPM fellowship certification preferred
o Minimum of 10 years of clinical medical physics experience and five years in a leadership role
o Experience managing staff in a multi-unionized environment
o Experience in change management, project management, and process improvement are considered an asset

INFRASTRUCTURE:
The Medical Physics Department at the WFCC currently consists of a team of five Medical Physicists, two Physics Associates, a Physics Systems Administrator, an Oncology Application Specialist, and a dedicated Biomedical Technologist. POSITION OBJECTIVE:

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse Extended Class Primary Health Care or Adult Certification with the College of Nurses

o Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program and/or Masters in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing
o Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program from a recognized university
o Minimum of three years' experience in community nursing
