POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Health Informatics Manager is a key leader within NH's Information Technology team, responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of information and communication systems that enhance clinical workflows and patient care. This role involves close collaboration with medical, nursing, interprofessional, and digital teams to drive process changes, system enhancements, and targeted training that support safe, quality patient care and improve clinician experiences through digital solutions. Additionally, the Health Informatics Manager plays a critical role in organizational information system downtime preparedness and participates in Niagara Health committees as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration:
o Collaborate with clinical, business, and Digital leadership to establish health informatics program roadmaps
o Translate strategic objectives into business cases and organizational initiatives
o Liaise with clinical and technical oversight groups to understand and shape requirements, and solve complex clinical system problems at an enterprise level
Clinical System Implementation and Enhancement:
o Apply extensive knowledge of clinical workflows and use cases for clinical systems to implement new system and process enhancements, particularly for NH's primary health information system, Oracle Health/Millennium
o Review, select, and test new healthcare technologies
o Define appropriate training and reinforcement initiatives to support clinical practice and system adoption
Project and Team Management:
o Apply formal project management principles, assuming end-to-end ownership for planning and delivering projects with complex requirements
o Manage and coach a team of health informatics specialists
o Oversee staff development, performance management, and resource allocation
Governance and Risk Management:
o Maintain a strong focus on governance, change management, and communications, emphasizing outcomes, value delivery, and customer service
o Proactively identify and manage risks and issues, escalating appropriately to senior leadership
System Downtime Preparedness:
o Support the development of clinical information system downtime procedures and tools
o Lead working groups focused on maintenance and ongoing improvement of downtime preparedness
o Participate in an on-call leadership rotation to support NH emergency response to critical information system downtimes
QUALIFICATIONS:
o College Diploma or University degree specializing in Health Administration, Business Administration or Health Related Field is required
o Master's degree in Health Informatics, Health Administration, Business Administration or equivalent is an asset
o Clinical designation and current registration with a regulatory College in Ontario required
o Minimum of 6 years of clinical practice, informatics, or related experience required
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in project or program management
o PMP, Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt, ITIL, IIBA, Change Management is an asset
o Supervisory or leadership experience required
o Proficiency in Oracle Health/Millennium as a user, including developing Millennium modules strongly preferred
o Excellent team-building, coaching, and group facilitation skills
o Proficient in desktop publishing and spreadsheet software (e.g., MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel); experience with MS Project, Visio, and other project management software is an asset
o Excellent presentation, writing, and training skills
o Excellent budget management skills and proficiency in data analytics to support IT investments
o Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills at the executive and senior management level
o Strong strategic critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
o Ability to work flexible hours including after hours, weekends and holidays to meet tight deadlines.

o Proficiency in English is required, French is an asset
