WAGE RANGE: $35.93 TO $41.37 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with clients within the Inpatient Mental Health Program to set transitional goals for community reintegration. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Inpatient Mental Health, the Recreation Therapist will be responsible for conducting evidence based TR and Mental Health assessments, client care plans and utilizing functional intervention strategies to enhance community engagement. The successful candidate will be skilled in providing integrated clinical best practice group therapies with clients living with mental health issues, inclusive of trauma and concurrent disorders. The successful candidate's home site will be St. Catharines site and must be willing to work at other sites, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of an accredited University Program for Recreation Therapy with a focus on therapeutic recreation
o Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario required
o Minimum of two year's recent experience working in a clinical Mental Health setting required
o Experience developing and administering assessments, individual treatment plans and therapeutic programming with individuals living with mental health, addictions and trauma
o Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, facilitate, and evaluate various therapeutic recreation and educational programs within Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) standards of practice and service delivery model through clinical interventions comprising functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation
o Must have strong working knowledge of the theory and practices of Therapeutic Recreation and Psycho/ Social Rehabilitation and Mental Health Recovery Model
o Strong clinical experience working with individuals living with trauma and concurrent disorders required
o Demonstrated ability to set clear boundaries with complex clients
o Formal training at an introductory level in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy required
o Demonstrated knowledge of community mental health supports and resources required
o Demonstrated experience in facilitating and co-facilitating psychotherapeutic groups required
o Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
o Demonstrated ability to form sustainable linkages with community services, agencies and programs
o Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate volunteer opportunities for patients/clients in the community
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills
o Ability to work effectively within an inter-disciplinary team, is self-directed, and is able to work with minimal supervision
o Proficiency in the use of computer applications including Microsoft Office
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Current SMG training
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
