WAGE RANGE: $38.35 to $53.28 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote excellence, quality patient/client care and high professional standards, the Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for performing respiratory therapeutics, will work in critical care areas; perform mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and advanced respiratory procedures within the adult, pediatric and neonatal population. They will also be responsible for performing outpatient respiratory therapeutics, such as pulmonary function testing. The objective of the Respiratory Therapist is to provide safe and competent care through the application of practical knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. The incumbent will perform all other relevant duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the unit to which s/he is assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o General license with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario is mandatory
o Graduate of a recognized Respiratory Therapy program
o Two years related clinical experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in the past five years preferred
o Ability to work to the full scope of practice as a Respiratory Therapist as outlined by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
o Current BCLS and ACLS certification
o Current NRP Certification
o PALS certification preferred
o Demonstrated proficiency performing advanced procedures such as arterial line insertion and IV insertion
o Evidence of continuing education
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgement and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting professional practice standards as outlined by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and related professional associations
o Applied Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education, expanded scope of practice and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Working knowledge of computers
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
