WAGE RANGE: $32.95 TO $37.26 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The successful candidate will assist with supportive counseling with individual and group work and educational/information sessions. Responsibilities also include the overall safety and security of the clients and facility, documentation and shift reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o College Diploma in Social Services or equivalent
o Minimum three years working experience in addictions and behavioural counseling
o Experience and knowledge of addictions, including treatment modalities and pharmacology; mental health services; case management- including assessment, goal setting, treatment planning, aftercare planning and referral; individual and group counseling; and development and delivery of psycho-educational sessions
o Must be able to work in emotionally charged environment at time characterized by high stress
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities
o Demonstrated ability in community and conflict management
o Experience in delivery of psycho-educational sessions and process groups required
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skills
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o The successful applicant will be required to work (1) one evening shift each week to conduct a support group and will provide individual support to members as needed
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
