POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Clinical Operations, the Director, Emergency/Urgent Care Programs will be a transformational leader who provides strategic and professional leadership for the delivery of high quality, evidenced-based care in the Emergency/Urgent Care program. The successful candidate will be an experienced change agent who will work closely with patients, families, frontline staff and all levels of management to ensure the safe delivery of care by promoting continuous quality improvement and the implementation of innovative ideas to continuously improve the care delivery model in the Emergency and Urgent Care Programs. The successful candidate will represent Niagara Health on external committees and work closely with other hospitals to deliver on the provincial strategy. The successful candidate will create a team environment of inclusion, attentive listening, respect, sensitivity, kindness, patience and empathy along with ensuring clinical excellence through promotion of best practice implementation. This position will be located at the St. Catharines Site however regular travel will be required to other sites.
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, results oriented leader who consistently demonstrates an innovative, creative, and collaborative management style. Possessing over 10 years' experience and progression in senior leadership roles in large, complex health care environments, the successful candidate will lead by example and champion Niagara Health's strategic priorities, vision and mission. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker who has proven success in introducing innovative, sustainable ideas and initiatives into the clinical environment and who has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's and Master's degree and will have current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and will:
o Demonstrate evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment and decision-making skills
o Have clinical experience with a focus on emergency services and care
o Apply Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Demonstrate commitment to patient/client centred care and the overall patient experience
o Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare legislation, regulations, collective agreements and government legislation
o Integrate education, critical thinking, and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Be proficient in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Full vaccinations in accordance with Niagara Health's policy
