WAGE RANGE: $39.07 TO $56.00 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Addictions, the Registered Nurse (RN) provide support to our clients in our program. The primary responsibility of the RN will be: intake and screening assessments; follow up and supportive health counselling; and wellness education.The RN will work with clients to assess mental status, risk status, and respond to questions regarding healthcare. The RN provides safe, competent and effective care in situations of health, illness, and disability across the life continuum while promoting nursing excellence and high professional standards. The RN provides care within a collaborative and inter-professional clinical team environment that reflects recovery/client-centred care principles and values. Support may also be required in other areas of addiction as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing required
o A minimum of one (1) years related clinical experience in a addiction and/or mental health setting working with individuals and families with addiction issues required.
o Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate required
o Current SMG (Safe Management Group) or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required.
o Understanding of motivational interviewing and or interpersonal therapy would be considered an asset
o Requires extensive knowledge of Niagara Health's Mental Health and Addiction services, as well as, community mental health and addiction resources.
o Demonstrates superior knowledge in engaging with patients and/or families who may be reluctant to seek help and establish rapport in various scenarios.
o Strong ability to build effective internal and external partnerships to support healthcare planning
o Good understanding of mental health diagnoses and a basic working knowledge of psychotropic medications.
o Demonstrated knowledge of College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the CNO.
o Demonstrated knowledge of Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
o Preference will be given to candidates who have the Successful completion of the Addiction Care and Treatment Online Course through the University of British Columbia.
o Demonstrated commitment to professional development, ongoing education and integration of research into clinical practice.
o Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
o Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
o Ability to foster collaborative working relationships.
o Working knowledge of formal and informal community services and resources within Niagara Region.
o Able to work both independently and as part of the inter-professional team.
o Applies NH values, professional practice standards, recovery/client-centred philosophy to patient care and service.
o Must be willing to work flexible hours to reflect patient population needs.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
