WAGE RANGE: $36.197 TO $40.954 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health & Safety, the successful incumbent will provide administrative support and case management support for workplace injuries and illnesses. The Advisor will be responsible for initial intake and follow up of incident reports, providing guidance to employees, offer and support modified duties/return to work, claim submission and processing within required timelines. The Advisor must liaise with employees, WSIB, departmental manager/supervisor and union representatives. The Advisor is required to respond to WSIB in a timely manner in regards to questions or requests for information. With the support of the EHAC's, the successful incumbent will be required to perform ongoing claims management including initiating/facilitating return to work/modified work and monitor ongoing modified duties, WSIB decisions and medical updates or additional information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field such as disability management, human resources or a health-related field (i.e. Social Sciences - Sociology, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, or related).
o 1-3 years of relevant experience with WSIB claims management, return to work principles and adjudication
o Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
Act, the Regulated Health Professions act, Ontario Human Rights Code, FIPPA, PIPEDA, and the
Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and other relevant legislation and regulations
o Working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Meditech, Excel and Parklane computer systems is beneficial
o Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and manage a high volume of work and
competing demands for time
o Understanding of medical terminology, human anatomy, and effects of injury and disease on physiology
o Negotiation skills including the ability to build on common ground, and interact positively with individuals that may be frustrated and/or upset
o Strong attention to detail
o Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions based upon sound analysis, experience and judgment
o Valid driver's license and access to vehicle for multi-site hospital travel
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption
based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
