HOURS OF WORK: APPROX 24 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD; 3 SHIFTS PER WEEK; PRIMARILY DAYS, 1 EVENING PER MONTH

WAGE RANGE: $25.004 TO $26.320 per hour
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Lab Attendant will work under the general supervision of the Charge Technologist perform functions associated with cleaning laboratory apparatus and maintenance of general laboratory supplies, handling and disposal of biological specimens as well as lifting of heavy objects and exposure to hazardous materials. Functioning as a team player and working with other laboratory staff and/or healthcare professionals to achieve optimum operation of the Laboratory Medicine Program. The successful candidate will support and practice quality principles such as quality assurance and continuous quality improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Minimum grade 12 or equivalent
o Successful completion of a college level Human Anatomy course
o One-year relevant experience within the last 2 years
o Knowledge of equipment to perform job related functions including but not limited to laboratory-ware cleaning
o Relevant experience working in an autopsy suite and medical laboratory environment
o General knowledge of relevant chemicals and other hazardous materials, General knowledge of equipment to perform job related functions
o Good organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skills
o Able to work effectively with minimal supervision and ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Ability to move about which include standing, walking, bending, lifting
o Full vaccination in accordance with Niagara Health's Vaccination Policy
