POSITION OBJECTIVE:

With a vision for supporting an efficient patient experience and a consistent approach to clinical best practices, Niagara Health is preparing to implement a modern Hospital Information System (HIS) in 2024.

We are in search of a dynamic and seasoned Hospital Information System (HIS) Conversion and Go-Live Manager to become a valuable member of our organization. Reporting to the Project Director HIS, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the cutover and go-live plan for the transition and implementation of the Oracle Cerner Millennium system.

Under the guidance of the Project Director HIS, the HIS Conversion and Go-Live Manager will formulate the cutover and go-live plan to facilitate the planning, transition, and implementation of the HIS. They will also oversee the development of the go-live schedule, logistics, and assignments for End Users, Super Users, and At The Elbow (ATE) support, in collaboration with the HIS vendor, project leadership, and change management.

As the go-live lead for the conversion, this manager will be responsible for coordinating the go-live activities and ensuring seamless execution. Playing a pivotal role, they will contribute to the readiness of each site as they progress through the cutover and go-live readiness and activities, facilitating the successful implementation of the new hospital information system.

The ideal candidate for this role should possess a blend of knowledge and experience in healthcare IT implementations and go-lives, with a preference for expertise in multi-site, complex information systems, particularly with Cerner Millennium. Effective leadership and project management skills are essential to manage multiple priorities and interdependencies, ensuring the project adheres to timelines and budgetary constraints.

Demonstrating strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, as well as proficiency in team building and leadership, with the ability to be seen as an inspirational and collaborative leader.



RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Develop and maintain a detailed cutover checklist and plan in collaboration with the HIS vendor, project leadership, and change management.
o Create the conversion (go-live) schedule, coordinate logistics, and assign roles to support a smooth go-live process.
o Collaborate on technical cutover schedules and plans to align with business objectives.
o Identify and create mitigation plans for risks, cross-application dependencies, and downstream impacts.
o Manage risks associated with cutover and prepare mitigation plans to minimize impact.
o Resolve discrepancies or process issues related to cutover.
o Ensure successful planning and execution of integrated cutover and go-live activities, managing project staff effectively.
o Plan and allocate resources (human and physical) required for cutover activities in collaboration with the vendor and project leadership.
o Develop contingency plans for cutover.
o Direct the go-live team towards project goals, securing required resources and staffing for on-site command centers and virtual support.
o Evaluate performance of go-live team members, provide feedback, and support morale and motivation.
o Report command center issues and risks to program leadership.
o Design and administer training sessions for the project team on command center processes in collaboration with the HIS Training Team.
o Identify and resolve issues by providing guidance to end users.
o Manage command center workflow, assigning tasks and escalating problems as needed.
o Work with Corporate Communications to share requirements and schedules with employees, following the HIS Communications Strategy.
o Collaborate closely with the vendor's adoption coach to coordinate go-live assignments.



QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
o Seven+ years of Project management experience, overseeing complex, large clinical and non-clinical projects.
o Experience leading cutover activities is an asset.
o Oracle Cerner implementation project management experience in a multi-site setting is an asset.
o Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is an asset.
o Ability to manage by influence within and across various IT, business, and clinical disciplines.
o Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, from unskilled personnel to highly trained professionals.
o In-depth understanding of clinical and operational workflows to develop and implement cutover documentation.
o Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
o Willingness and ability to travel to all sites as required.
o Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
o People and team-oriented with a strong ability to establish confidence, credibility, and cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
