HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD

WAGE RANGE: $38.75 to $54.01
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Driven by a commitment to the patient experience and to enhancing professional practice through the delivery of evidence informed care, the successful candidate will be responsible for the identification of learning needs, planning, implementation and evaluation of knowledge translation and program development activities that support professional excellence for nursing and other health professionals in relation to complex care patient needs. Reporting to the Director Nursing Professional Practice, the Nurse Educator will work collaboratively with the Program Teams, the Clinical Leadership Team, other Nurse Educators, Physicians, and other interprofessional team members to develop and promote a best practice environment for the Complex Care Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse Extended Class, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, (Master's Degree in Nursing, Adult Education, or related field strongly preferred)
o Minimum 3 years clinical education experience in the past 5 years and/or certification in Adult Education with proven ability to achieve education and practice outcomes through programs delivered to individuals and groups
o A minimum of 5 years of RN acute care and/or complex care experience within the last 5 years
o Expertise in gerontological nursing an asset
o Current Certification in BCLS, ACLS, and Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) or equivalent
o Demonstrated proficiency in the practice of acute care and/or complex care nursing, including but not limited to: tracheostomy care, CVAD, delirium screening and prevention, oxygen therapy, parenteral therapy, wound care, rehabilitation nursing, palliative care, physical assessment expertise, and psychogeriatrics.
o Demonstrated proficiency with knowledge transfer, program development and implementation, project and change management, and evaluation skills relative to clinical practice and the practice of education
o Knowledge of nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the applicability to the practice setting
o Demonstrated clinical practice leadership skills, including conflict resolution, managing expectations, coaching.
o Experience with quality improvement strategies and methodologies
o Superior written and oral communication skills
o Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a member of the Professional Practice team
o Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
o Demonstrated commitment to the vision, mission and values of Niagara Health.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
