POSITION OBJECTIVE:
As part of an Extraordinary team, the Enterprise Architect, in the domain of database administrator and interoperability, will play a crucial role supporting stakeholders internally and externally to Niagara Health. Leveraging experience in a healthcare or public sector setting, this role will collaborate with various programs to identify ways technology can enhance systems and methods for sharing information to enhance patient care and protect health information. This role will be responsible for interacting with customers and vendors to optimize and sustain current systems. They will also facilitate and support integrated system testing, requirement gathering, developing, and documenting policies and procedures, while acting as a liaison between end users and ICT.
Responsibilities
o Manage and administer databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and capacity planning.
o Design, develop, and maintain interfaces, and data transformation scripts for data exchange
o Analyze, test and troubleshoot interoperability needs and develop strategies, ensuring accurate data transmission
o Identify potential risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them
o Designing, implementing and optimizing processes and for reporting and analysis, and ensuring that deliverables can be reliably produced on schedule
o Create and maintain reports, dashboards and visualizations using business intelligence tools such as Power BI
o Maintain best practices in data modelling, schema design and business intelligence methods
o Collaborate with stakeholders to create and maintain documentation and provide on-call support
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
o 5+ years of experience working in database administration, interoperability, system integration, preferably in a senior role
o Expert knowledge of database technologies, including but not limited to Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and scripting languages
o Strong experience with various integration methods including ETL, API, web services, and messaging systems
o Familiarity with industry standards and best practices, such as HL7, FHIR and relevant data exchange protocols
o Knowledge of cloud database platforms, for example Azure, would be an asset
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail, capable of handling complex technical issues
o Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively in cross-functional teams
o Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
o Relevant certifications, such as ITIL, are an asset.
