HOURS OF WORK: APPROX. 30 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD, MONDAY TO FRIDAY

WAGE RANGE: $23.471 TO $25.170 per hour
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
As a member of the OR Bookings Office and the larger patient care team, the Patient Scheduler, OR Bookings, works under the direction of the Manager or delegate and fulfills a variety of functions including booking and scheduling, clerical duties, and public relations. Daily work includes direct interaction with Surgeons, physician's offices, interprofessional teams and departments, patients and perioperative leadership. Shift rotations and assignments are subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant program or the equivalent in related experience
o Medical Terminology Certificate
o Current demonstrated expert experience (within 1 yr) with OR Bookings Systems (PICIS ORM and Eventus Booking Care)
o One year experience with Meditech including Registration, Community Wide Scheduling, EMR,
o Demonstrated statistical analysis capabilities to understand and interpreting data, including surgeon performance, patient census information, etc.
o Evidence of high degree of accuracy in work management understanding the impact accuracy and the impact of errors as it applies to data management including but not limited to;
o Patient Records
o Reporting
o Clinical Pathways
o Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
o Demonstrated ability to demonstrate a professional attitude and communicate effectively using both oral and written format with patients, families, public, colleagues and other members of the interprofessional team
o Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment
o Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function effectively in a busy environment
o Demonstrated problem-solving ability and organizational skills
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
o Demonstrated ability to function in a multi-task environment
o Excellent proficiency and knowledge of computers and computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Meditech, and the ability to learn program specific clinical computer applications
o Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information.
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health Privacy Policy.
o Excellent keyboarding skills with minimum 45 wpm.
o Knowledge of office equipment (telephone, fax, photocopiers).
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, and sick time
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficient in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
