POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Niagara Health is entering a time of great opportunity and we are looking for exceptional individuals to be part of our extraordinary team and future to focus on digital health technologies that scale far beyond the traditional walls of the hospital. With a vision for supporting an efficient patient experience and a consistent approach to clinical best practices, Niagara Health is preparing to implement a modern Hospital Information System (HIS) in 2024.
The HIS Associate Director, Design & Build will play a crucial role in this clinical and digital transformation. Reporting to the Project Director, the HIS Associate Director is responsible for ensuring that best practices are reflected in the design, testing, integration and implementation of the HIS. The Associate Director will be an experienced leader with superior project management skills and healthcare expertise and will become a member of the leadership team for Niagara Health's large scale, multi-site HIS implementation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Oversee and guide a team of managers, workflow leads, analysts and subject matter experts to ensure project milestones are met and activities are executed per approved plans for the established program areas (inpatient, ambulatory, ancillary and specialty, and revenue cycle and access).
o Work closely with the Project Control Office and HIS vendor and be accountable for the integrated project plan for the design and build teams.
o Foster an environment that supports active participation in decision making.
o Identify and manage interdependencies between program areas and project streams and effectively communicate these with key stakeholders.
o Participate in HIS information technology procurement in collaboration with the HIS technical and procurement teams.
o Participate in the development and execution of the training and conversion plan.
o Provide human resource management, including effective allocation of staff resources, scheduling and prioritizing of staff workloads.
o Provide strategic direction to the team to ensure the project remains on track and on budget, with a focus on delivery of business/clinical value and outcomes.
o Support managers in daily operational aspects of the project and provide project management expertise and guidance, enforcing project standards, anticipating and troubleshooting issues and minimizing Niagara Health's exposure to risk.
o Collaborate with a dynamic group of leaders at Niagara Health in the implementation of the HIS and movement to operations.
o Ensure that the business community is engaged throughout the project lifecycle and act as a primary contact and liaison between organizational, vendor, and implementation staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare IT, project management and operational leadership.
o University degree in specializing in business, project management or a health related field preferred. Master's degree (eHealth, MHSc, MBA) an asset.
o Experience leading and successfully implementing clinical transformation projects in a healthcare setting and/or complex healthcare implementations an asset.
o Excellent leadership and project management skills and the ability to lead large complex teams.
o Demonstrated stakeholder management and facilitation skills within multiple levels of an organization and with external stakeholders.
o Strong presentation and facilitation experience with a diverse group of people at all levels of an organization.
o Ability to work in a fast paced environment with quickly changing priorities to ensure superior customer satisfaction and business results.
o Resilience and ability to persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance when faced with stressful work situations and time pressures.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
