WAGE RANGE: $42.195 TO $47.740
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health & Safety, this position will provide leadership for Safety within Niagara Health. The ideal candidate will enjoy a hands-on approach working with staff to further develop their skills and the organization's effectiveness in addressing safety concerns. Able to build effective relationships with management, employees, union representatives and external agencies, the successful candidate will bring experience in the safety prevention area and be skilled in implementing effective safety improvement initiatives. Interfacing with external agencies such as OSACH and the Ministry of Labour, the successful candidate will provide technical expertise and be the key resource for Safety, representing NH effectively. With strong leadership skills, the successful candidate will translate strategy to action and welcome the opportunity to influence change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o University degree required, post graduate or diploma certification within an Occupational Health and Safety specialization is strongly preferred.
o Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
o A minimum of two years' experience in a Safety Advocacy role.
o In depth understanding of legislative requirements; familiarity with Safety issues in a health care environment.
o Demonstrated experience in leading and facilitating safety initiatives.
o Demonstrated experience in organizing and running joint Health & Safety committees.
o Knowledge of and expertise in implementing Health and Safety best practices.
o Detailed understanding and expertise in managing critical incidents; supporting effective accident investigation.
o Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
o Strong facilitation, conflict management and advocacy skills; proven experience in building partnerships with key decision makers.
o Communicates well with a cross section of employees and managers, both in writing and verbally, in presentations and one on one situations.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
