WAGE RANGE: $40.40 to $51.47
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Program (OPMHAP) is looking for a MSW to support our program. The primary responsibilities of the Social Worker will be: intake and screening assessments; supportive counselling/group therapy; education; system navigation; disposition support; program and system development and evaluation to ensure clients are referred and connected to the most appropriate program. Using a variety of treatment modalities, the successful candidate will be skilled in providing integrated clinical best practice therapies with clients living with mental health issues, inclusive of trauma and concurrent disorders. The successful candidate will be proficient in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and a sound working knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Approach. The successful candidate will provide therapeutic interventions in a group setting with some individual support. The successful candidate will work effectively on an independent basis and work collaboratively within the inter-professional team. Niagara Falls will be the primary site but will support day regional day hospital programs and regional adult group therapy at all sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OSWSSW) in good standing.
o A minimum of two (2) years related clinical experience in a mental health setting required.
o Requires extensive knowledge of Niagara Health's OMHAP services, as well as, community mental health and addiction resources required.
o Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial mental health assessments (including mental status examination, risk assessment and substance use assessments) required.
o Must have formal education, in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma Informed Therapy required.
o Demonstrated knowledge and two (2) years' experience in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma Informed Therapy in clinical, mental health setting required.
o Demonstrated experience in facilitating psychotherapeutic groups, specific to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma Therapy required.
o Demonstrates superior knowledge in engaging with patients and/or families who may be reluctant to seek help and establish rapport in various scenarios.
o Strong ability to build effective internal and external partnerships to support care planning, care transitions, and OMHAP system development.
o Good understanding of mental health diagnoses and a basic working knowledge of psychotropic medications.
o Demonstrated knowledge of OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the OSWSSW.
o Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
o Demonstrated commitment to professional development, ongoing education and integration of research into clinical practice.
o Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
o Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
o Ability to foster collaborative working relationships.
o Able to work both independently and as part of the inter-professional team.
o Applies Niagara Health CORE values, professional practice standards, recovery/client-centred philosophy to client care and service.
o Current SMG (Safe Management Group) or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required.
o Must be willing to work flexible hours to reflect patient population needs.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
