POSITION OBJECTIVE:
As an integral member of the Pharmacy program, the Pharmacy Manager will provide overall leadership and effective day-to-day management of Pharmacy Services.
Principal responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing all aspects of pharmacy services including daily operations, human and material resource planning, scheduling, budgeting, utilization management, maintaining compliance with all policies and procedures, medication safety, and quality improvement. A thorough understanding of the NH medication use process, technology and automation, clinical pharmacy practice, and medication distribution activities is required. The Pharmacy Manager ensures site compliance with both the Ontario College of Pharmacists hospital standards and Accreditation Canada standards.
The Pharmacy Manager facilitates communication, collaboration and teamwork with clinical managers on site activities that will optimize the medication-use system. The Pharmacy Manager also effectively communicates and engages with pharmacy staff, demonstrating a commitment to teams, systems and processes that enhance patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A) required
o Completion of an advanced health-related degree or pharmacy residency highly preferred
o Minimum 2 years practical and related supervisory, management, or leadership experience required
o Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an acute care hospital pharmacy
o Demonstrated proficiency in NAPRA Professional Competencies, CSHP Standards of Practice, and OCP Standards of Practice
o Demonstrated commitment to professional and leadership development
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
o Successful organizational and time management skills
o Demonstrated project management abilities and collaborative management style
o Excellent analytical, critical thinking and decision making skills within a fast-paced, complex and changing environment
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
