WAGE RANGE: $32.18 to $37.05

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health, the successful applicant's primary emphasis will be to contribute to the transitional goals of clients in Mental Health by supporting in the development and implementation of a community reintegration program. The Recreation Therapist will be responsible for conducting evidence based TR assessments, client care plans and utilizing functional intervention strategies to enhance community engagement, the development of pro-social support systems and to foster client independence within the community. The incumbent will develop and utilize community linkages to enhance resources and promote reintegration of the mental health consumers within the community. As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the Recreation Therapist will undertake planning, evaluating and delivery of outpatient programs in a manner that is safe for the client and respectful of diversity. Multisite coverage and evening and weekend work may be required to assist with facilitation of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of an accredited University Program for Recreation Therapy with a focus on therapeutic recreation.
o Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario preferred.
o Minimum of 2 years' experience (In the past 5 years) in a clinical Mental Health setting required.
o Experience developing and administering assessments, individual treatment plans and therapeutic programming with individuals living with mental health.
o Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, facilitate, and evaluate various therapeutic recreation and educational programs within Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) standards of practice and service delivery model through clinical interventions comprising functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation.
o Must have strong working knowledge of the theory and practices of Therapeutic Recreation and Psycho/ Social Rehabilitation and Mental Health Recovery Model.
o Strong clinical experience working with individuals living with trauma and concurrent disorders.
o Demonstrated ability to set clear boundaries with complex clients.
o Certificate and/or training at an introductory level in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and/or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
o Demonstrated knowledge of community mental health supports and resources.
o Demonstrated experience in facilitating and co-facilitating psychotherapeutic groups.
o Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
o Demonstrated ability to form sustainable linkages with community services, agencies and programs.
o Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate volunteer opportunities for patients/clients in the community.
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
o Ability to work effectively within an inter-disciplinary team, is self-directed, and is able to work with minimal supervision.
o Proficiency in the use of computer applications including Microsoft Office.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Current SMG training.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
