WAGE RANGE: $52.13 TO $59.43 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote clinical excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards, the Nurse Practitioner in Oncology will focus on enhancing nursing practice and patient outcomes while working in a collaborative practice model. The Nurse Practitioner will work in the WFCC urgent response clinic and be responsible for assessing cancer patients in various settings with complex symptoms or whose conditions are deteriorating. The NP will collaborate with oncologists to support admissions and post discharge follow ups. Additionally, she/he will provide education to all stakeholders regarding admission avoidance strategies and participate in or lead other activities designed to improve care for cancer patients across the disease trajectory. This role will require collaboration with Oncologists, Oncology Nurses, Palliative Care providers, Inpatients and Emergency Department Staff. Furthermore, this role will align with the strategic direction and ongoing development of WFCC services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class.
o Master Degree in Nursing required.
o Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate or Nurse Practitioner - Adult Certificate.
o Certificate in Oncology CON(C) or Palliative Care CHPCN(c), or willing to obtain in the next two years
o Current BCLS.
o Minimum five (5) years of related clinical experience in Oncology.
o Applies knowledge, skills and judgment to meet nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses.
o Demonstrated ability to coach interdisciplinary teams in the development and communication of an integrated and patient-centered oncological plan of care.
o Demonstrated ability to provide nursing leadership. Experience as a formal or informal nursing leader who uses critical thinking and takes the initiative to advance the following areas; o nursing professional practice, patient/family education and inter-professional team consultation/functioning to promote patient and family-centered care.
o Maintains a high degree of professionalism, compassion and collaboration with patients, families and all internal and external service providers or stakeholders in cancer care and promote o positive relationships with community partners.
o Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt positively to constantly changing clinical situations.
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the NH Privacy Policy.
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn about other software/computer applications needed to carry out the role.
o This role may involve internal/external committee work and/or capacity building initiatives and service development as required.
o Consistent attendance and the ability to work independently with optimal time management skills are required.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
