POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Wellness Consultant is a key member of our health and wellness team, and will provide health and wellness support to staff and physicians throughout the organization. A Registered Social Worker, the Wellness Consultant will develop and provide individual and organization wide supports, resources, and response to enable our organizational commitment to health and wellness. The incumbent plays a crucial role in pandemic support and recovery and fostering individual, team, and organizational wellness.
o The Wellness Consultant is responsible for assessing staff and physician needs, and then identifying the best approach/resources to support individuals or teams who are struggling with anxiety, burnout, trauma and/or stress due to personal or professional challenges. Clinically skilled, the Wellness Consultant will demonstrate a high level of understanding related to referrals and partnerships with supportive community agencies, employee assistance programming, and other clinical and wellness resources based on individual and group needs.
o In partnership with the Wellness Specialist, the Wellness Consultant will work with NH interprofessional teams as well as with community partners and agencies to elevate health and wellness supports to staff and physicians. To be successful, the incumbent is able to organize and lead individual and group supports and structured interventions based on identified individual, team, and organizational needs, while building trust through offering confidential, skilled, and focused supports/counselling.
o The Wellness Consultant will provide recommendations, advice and support to individuals and work teams concerning healthy workplace methodologies and tools to drive wellness. Strategies and programs will be developed based on evidence informed research, best practices and needs assessments to support organizational wellness recommendations and strategic deliverables.
o Following a critical incident within the hospital, the Wellness Consultant will provide supportive, swift, and skilled debriefings to individuals and teams following traumatic events in partnership with other key internal stakeholders, including spiritual care and site leadership. The Wellness Consultant will provide also confidential, individual support to colleagues who are in immediate emotional distress in the workplace.
o Must be willing and available to travel/work at multi-sites and work evenings/weekends, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with Ontario College of Social work & Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
o Master's of Social Work
o A minimum of 5-7 years of previous experience with assessment and treatment in adult mental health setting
o Experience in the area of workplace wellness and mental health in a health care setting
o Clinical experience in working with adults who suffer with a mental health diagnosis
o Experienced with treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy
o Experience in counselling health care providers
o Experience leading Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programs
o Experience with peer support programs
o Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
o Previous experience with program planning, development and evaluation of group and/or individual therapy
o Proven effective collaborative skills as a member of an inter professional team in a hospital setting
o Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power-Point
o Demonstrated commitment to professional development
o Demonstrated good attendance and performance record with the ability to maintain these same standards
o Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
