POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote nursing excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, integrated care plan development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. The objective of the Registered Nurse is to provide safe and competent care through the application of nursing knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. The successful candidate's home site will be the Site listed above and will be required to work at two or more sites as well must be available for on-call/standby shifts. If there are no qualified candidates, this position may be used for a training opportunity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Two years related clinical experience in the past five years in endoscopy
o Current BCLS and ACLS certification
o Successful Completion of ECG basic course and test
o Demonstrated knowledge and skill in procedural sedation with training and skills to monitor cardiac rate and rhythm as per NH Procedural Sedation Policy
o Demonstrated proficiency in assisting with ERCP procedures, PEG tube insertions, Dilatations - esophageal and duodenal, GI bleed injections and clippings and bronchoscopy procedure
o Proficiency at operating endoscopic electrosurgery machine
o Ability to handle and operate intricate specialized endoscopic equipment while assisting the physician with a procedure
o Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment
o Demonstrated proficiency in IV Therapy and Advanced IV Therapy
o Proficiency in equipment reprocessing in accordance with Central Sterilization and Reprocessing standards
o Current knowledge of nursing guidelines as outlined by the Canadian Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates
o Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of nursing standards as they apply to the care of perioperative patients/clients
o Demonstrated ability to develop an integrated plan of care
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and related professional associations
o Applies NH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Working knowledge of computers
o Consistent and regular attendance required
O Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
