WAGE RANGE: $49.325 to $55.807
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Manager, Biomedical Engineering, the Supervisor will lead a unionized team of Biomedical Technologists to ensure efficient and effective operations. The primary role will be to oversee the department's day to day operations, and ensure that the all corrective and scheduled maintenance activities are completed within acceptable established metrics to achieve operational excellence. The supervisor will assign both human and financial resources appropriately to achieve departmental goals and objectives. This includes, assign and schedule staff, approve overtime, vacations and disciplining. The incumbent will promote excellence in supporting patient safety, work quality, standards of practice and regulations related to health technology management in a hospital setting. The incumbent will work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders to complete work related projects and activities. In performing their duty, the Supervisor will demonstrate NHs core values of optimism, achieving ambitious results and compassion at all times. The successful candidate's is expected to be available and ready to work at any of NH's sites as work dictates or is assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Biomedical Engineering Technology Diploma/University degree in Biomedical Engineering
o Relevant certifications will be an asset (e.g. CBET, O.A.C.E.T.T.)
o Management training and/or management certification preferred
o 5 years successful and proven management/supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized hospital environment
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and respond appropriately to a crisis situation.
o Excellent interpersonal communication, staff development and team leadership skills.
o Must have excellent knowledge and experience in the administration of medical equipment service contracts, and vendor performance. capital procurement practices, equipment planning and budgets
o Working knowledge of legislated safety requirements, codes, standards and regulations (CMBES, CSA, Health Canada, ISO, etc.).
o Excellent knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems, MS office applications, medical device clinical applications and ICT integrations.
o The incumbent is expected to support the South Niagara Hospital project Team as required
o Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle for inter-site travel required.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
