WAGE RANGE: $29.169 TO $30.704 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the manager of engineering services, the incumbent works as part of the Engineering Services team to deliver hospital maintenance services. Main responsibilities are the repairs of building finishes such as walls, ceilings, floors by way of taping, plastering, painting, repairing and installing associated finishes under the direction of the facility supervisor. Will also be responsible to perform preventative maintenance, inspections and general maintenance duties as assigned. Ability to work in a team environment to meet deadlines and solve problems under minimal supervision. The incumbent will communicate by phone, verbal and written with other departments, contractors and internal customers to provide maintenance services. These duties are to be performed according to NH policies & procedures, legislated codes and regulations, to support a functional, reliable, safe and comfortable health care environment. This position may include assignments or relocation to other sites within Niagara Health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Grade 12 Education or equivalent
o Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Painter/Decorator
o 5 years' demonstrated knowledge and experience working as a professional painter or contractor
o 5 years' experience in finishing, maintenance & repair of commercial or institutional buildings and equipment. Hospital experience preferred.
o Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and calculate material and equipment requirements.
o Working knowledge of legislated safety requirements, codes, standards and regulations.
o Working knowledge of computer software applications including computerized maintenance management system experience an asset.
o Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for inter-site travel.
o General trades knowledge and experience
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment, critical thinking, trouble shooting and decision-making skills.
o Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
