Reporting to the Manager of Infection Control, the Supervisor in conjunction with the Manager, leads a team of Infection Control Professionals to support and protect patients, staff, physicians and visitors by implementing plans and protocols that are evidence-based and cost effective.
The IPAC Supervisor coordinates and evaluates system-wide improvements in infection prevention and serves as a role model to promote the goals of the IPAC program within the context of the vision and mission of Niagara Health. The IPAC Supervisor will serve as a resource and facilitate change through interpretation and application of standards and provide best practice recommendations with the ultimate goal of improving patients outcomes and preventing disease outbreaks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Degree in health sciences or regulated healthcare professional, Master's preferred.
o Minimum five years experience working in Infection Prevention and Control in hospital settings
o Minimum two years of supervisory/management capacity in a health care setting preferred.
o Certified in IPAC through Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
o Demonstrated expertise in the field of microbiology, infectious diseases, epidemiology, facility design/construction/renovation, cleaning and disinfection,
o reprocessing, occupational health and safey and adult education principles.
o Skilled in managing and conducting investigation, infection surveillance, outbreak management and providing education across the healthcare continuum.
o Working knowledge of IPAC guidelines, Accreditation and CSA standards, and applicable regulations.
o Proficient in using computer applications (word, excel, power point), and other healthcare technologies and databases.
o Superior interpersonal and leadership skills including but not limited to; critical thinking, decision-making and problem solving skills, communication, responsiveness, conflict resolution, change management, visionary thinking, organizational skills and effective customer service.
o Demonstrated leadership ability in providing support to a team of hightly skilled IPAC professionals.
o Able to facilitate and implement change to advance the program and organizational goals.
o Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, both written and oral.
o Consistent and regular attendance is required.
o Able to participate in on-call/issue escalation process.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
