LOCATION: GREATER NIAGARA GENERAL SITE
HOURS OF WORK: 30 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD; 2 SHIFTS PER WEEK MONDAY TO FRIDAY,SHIFTS INCLUDE 0630-1430, 0730-1530, 0900-1700 AND 1400-2300 INCLUDING WEEKEND COVERAGE

UNION: SERVICE EMPLOYEE'S INTERNATIONAL UNION-SERVICE
WAGE RANGE: 22.509 TO 23.693 per hour
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day ordering of supplies, stocking of the Operating Room clinical areas, cleaning of O.R. rooms, removal of linen and garbage, assisting with the transfer of patients from stretcher to operating table and back, and the portering of patients to other departments/units within the hospital. Shift rotations are subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Successful completion of PSW Certificate program
o Experience in an operating room hospital environment
o Education in sterile techniques room changeovers terminalizing an O.R. and central supply procedures an asset
o Current BCLS
o Knowledge of body mechanics for the pushing of stretchers and wheelchairs and proper patient transfer techniques required
o Previous experience with O.R. equipment and supplies and in assisting in patient positioning and supporting limbs
o Working knowledge of computers
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skills
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
