WAGE RANGE: 33.560 TO 48.050 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote nursing excellence, the Flu Clinic Nurse, under the general direction of the Occupational Health Nurse, conducts staff influenza immunization clinics by assessing needs, setting up work stations, establishing informed consent, preparing and administering injections and observing and responding to reactions; advises clients of adverse reactions and contraindications and provides after care instructions and related documentation; and completes documentation of vaccine administration.
Responsibilities will include:
o Conduct flu immunization clinics, transporting vaccines, setting up clinics, establishing informed consent, preparing and administering injections and observing and responding to reactions such as fainting and anaphylaxis to ensure client safety.
o Arranging Departmental-specific clinics
o Advise about possible adverse reactions and contraindications and provide after care instructions and related documentation; answer other flu immunization related questions as required.
o Ensure full compliance with all infection prevention and control practices and requirements.
o Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
o Current BCLS certification.
o Performs to the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
o Experience working independently or running a clinic.
o Demonstrated ability to administer injections and activate safe needle devices.
o Demonstrated ability to recognize adverse reactions, competent in anaphylaxis protocol.
o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
o Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
o Applies NH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service.
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
