POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote nursing excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, integrated care plan development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. The objective of the Registered Nurse is to provide safe and competent care through the application of nursing knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. Working to promote nursing excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, integrated care plan development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. The objective of the Registered Nurse is to provide safe and competent care through the application of nursing knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. In the event there are no qualified applicants, this posting will be used as a training opportunity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Recent related clinical experience in a critical care setting
o Current BCLS certification
o Performs to the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Demonstrated knowledge in ECG interpretation.
o Demonstrated knowledge and skill in procedural sedation.
o Proof of procedural sedation certification
o Demonstrated proficiency in IV Therapy Initiation, Venipuncture and monitoring systems.
o Demonstrated knowledge of and skill with Central Venous Access Devices preferred.
o Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment.
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and related professional associations.
o Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of proper aseptic techniques.
o Demonstrated ability to develop an integrated plan of care.
o Supportive of organizational and departmental goals and objectives, demonstrating initiative to promote total quality improvement.
o Applies NH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service.
o Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
o Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgement, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
o Flexible, self-directed, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
o Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
o Working knowledge of computers.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficiency in both offical languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
