WAGE RANGE: $74.238 TO $83.993 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Applications are invited for a full-time permanent medical physicist position at the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Reporting to the Head of Medical Physics, the Medical Physicist supplies scientific expertise to the radiation medicine program through the application of physics to medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to provide all aspects of clinical physics support including acceptance and commissioning of equipment, development of new technologies and protocols, treatment planning, quality improvement, participation in the disease site teams, chart checking, consultation with radiation oncologists and dosimetrists, staff training and education, other duties assigned by the Head of Medical Physics. Working hours on evenings and weekends are occasionally required to meet the clinical program's needs.
The successful candidate will join an innovative and growing team consisting of four physicists, two physicist assistants, one biomedical technologist, and one IT personnel. The Centre has three Elekta linear accelerators equipped with IMRT/VMAT/SBRT/IGRT and the surface-guided motion management system. Educational and student supervision opportunities exist through the collaboration with the Department of Physics at Brock University. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to seek an adjunct faculty appointment at Brock University.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o PhD in Medical Physics or a related subject from a recognized university is required
o Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in radiation oncology physics or equivalent
o Certified or eligible for certification by CCPM/ABR
o Demonstrated clinical excellence and scientific problem-solving ability
o A minimum of two years' experience post residency is preferred
o Demonstrated interpersonal skills working in a busy multi-disciplinary environment
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Motivated with strong work ethics, ability to work independently and in teams
o Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload and meet competing deadlines
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
