JOB TITLE: HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT (OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY)
STATUS: TEMPORARY FULL TIME (10 WEEKS)
DEPARTMENT: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
LOCATION: GREATER NIAGARA GENERAL SITE
HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD
POSTING DATE: 15 January 2020
CLOSING DATE: 26 January 2020
UNION: NON UNION
WAGE RANGE: $17.00 per hour
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Health Care Assistant will assist the Occupational Therapy staff with providing direct and non-direct patient care activities working under the direction of the Occupational Therapy staff. The Health Care Assistant will be assigned and/or buddied with an Occupational Therapy staff member on every shift.
o Assist with portering/transporting patients
o Assist the department with patient safety and comfort by ensuring the environment is tidy, clean and safe from hazards
o Assist with administrative duties such as photocopying, mail delivery, faxing and similar duties
o Attendance at all staff meetings as appropriate
o Be aware and adhere to all safety policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Health Care Assistant must have successfully completed his/her first year and be enrolled in the upcoming year in a recognized Occupational Therapy Program or has completed two years of an undergraduate degree in Health Sciences/Kinesiology and be proceeding into a recognized Occupational Therapy Program.
