HOURS OF WORK: 28 to 37.50 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD; ROTATING SHIFTS

WAGE RANGE: $22.528 TO $23.698 PER HOUR


POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse the Personal Support Worker functions as a team member assisting the patients in the Regional Emergency Program to meet their basic physical, social, and emotional needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring supplies and equipment for the Emergency Unit are ordered, recorded and monitored. Shift rotations are subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
o Successful completion of the Personal Support Worker Certificate Required.
o Current BCLS.
o One year experience working as a Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker in a healthcare setting.
o Knowledge and experience using proper body mechanics for a one-person transport by wheelchair or stretcher.
o Demonstrated understanding of proper body mechanics when pushing, pulling, lifting and transferring patients.
o Working knowledge of stretchers, beds, wheelchairs, etc.
o Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills.
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
