WAGE RANGE: 33.230 TO 47.570
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The incumbent will assess the health of Niagara Health (NH) employees, conduct pre-employment and periodic health assessments, administer first aid treatment and medications and refer employees to appropriate treatment resources in accordance with NH and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures and legislative requirements. Other responsibilities include; Fit testing, participating in the flu campaigns, coverage for vacation and outbreak situations and reviewing policies. Must be willing to travel and work at all sites as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse
o Working knowledge of OHA Communicable disease protocols
o Current CPR certification
o Sufficient knowledge is required for the assessment and primary care for injuries and illness
o Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Canada Labour Code;
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Applies NH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
o Applies leadership skills by providing, facilitating and promoting quality patient care
o Demonstrated commitment to patient and family education and the ability to promote health and wellness
o Evidence of accurate, timely and appropriate documentation according to best practice guidelines and CNO standards
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Consistent and regular attendance required
