WAGE RANGE: $31.080 TO $35.790 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The successful applicant provides client assessments, develops intervention plans of care, groups and therapeutic recreation programming for patients/clients. The Recreational Therapist is an active member of a multidisciplinary team and participates in developing and evaluating patient care plans. The Recreation Therapist will undertake the planning and delivery of programs in a manner that is safe for the client and respectful of diversity. The incumbent utilizes community linkages to promote reintegration of the consumers within the community. The recreation therapist also applies current recreation therapy research to their professional practice and supports future professionals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of an accredited University Program for Recreation Therapy with a focus on therapeutic recreation.
o Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario preferred.
o 2 years recent experience in a clinical health care setting required.
o Experience developing and administering assessments, individual treatment plans and therapeutic programming.
o CPR and First Aid certification.
o Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, facilitate, and evaluate various therapeutic recreation and educational programs within Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) standards of practice and service delivery model through clinical interventions comprising functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation.
o Must have strong working knowledge of the theory and practices of Therapeutic Recreation and Psycho/ Social Rehabilitation.
o Ability to evaluate individual, group treatment programs to achieve best practices and optimal suitability for client centered care.
o Demonstrated ability to form sustainable linkages with community services, agencies and programs.
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment, critical thinking and decision making skills.
o Ability to work effectively within an inter-disciplinary team, is self-directed, and is able to work with minimal supervision.
o Proficiency in the use of computer applications including Microsoft Office.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
