WAGE RANGE: $38.75 to $54.01
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Driven by a fundamental passion and commitment to the patient experience and enhancing professional practice through the delivery of evidence based care, the successful candidate will be responsible for the identification of learning needs, and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of knowledge translation activities that support professional excellence for nursing and other clinical practice disciplines with an emphasis on Children's and Newborn's Health. Reporting to the Director, Nursing Practice, the Nurse Educator will work collaboratively with the Professional Practice Team, Director of Women & Babies/ Paediatrics, Clinical Managers, Program Leadership, and other health professionals, to develop and promote a best practice environment for Children's Health Services across all sites within Niagara Health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse Extended Class, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, (Master's Degree in Nursing, Adult Education, or related field strongly preferred)
o Minimum 3 years formal clinical education experience in the past 5 years and/or certification in Adult Education with proven ability to achieve education and practice outcomes through programs delivered to individuals and groups
o Current Certification in BCLS, PALS and NRP
o A minimum of 5 years of experience as an RN working in both a neonatal intensive care unit and paediatric unit within the last 3 years
o Advanced clinical skills in all areas of Children's and Neonatal Health including but not limited to: physical assessment, patient and family collaboration, emergency management, post-operative care, CVAD and peripheral IV access and management, and safe medication practices
o Demonstrated proficiency with knowledge transfer, program development and implementation, project and change management, and evaluation skills relative to clinical practice and the practice of education
o Knowledge of nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the applicability to the practice setting
o Superior written and oral communication skills
o Committed to excellence in all elements of professional practice, including excellence in patient care processes, measuring outcomes, collaboration, and professional growth through education and research utilization
o Experience with quality improvement strategies and methodologies
o Demonstrated ability to provide effective clinical practice leadership
o Superior conflict resolution and organizational skills.
o Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a member of the Professional Practice team
o Demonstrated computer skills in all Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook and a willingness to explore other computer applications to achieve professional practice objectives
o Able to balance organizational and program goals and objectives
o Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
o Demonstrated commitment to the vision, mission and values of the NH.
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
