WAGE RANGE: $30.39 TO $34.99
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessment, treatment and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent will perform all other relevant duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the high volume, fast-paced unit. Must be willing to work at two or more sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Diploma in an Orthopedic Program from a recognized College of Arts and Technology
o Current registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT)
o Current BCLS training
o One year in the past three years of experience in a clinical setting.
o Basic understanding of anatomical structures and their relationship with one another
o Ability to accurately describe orthopedic conditions
o Ability to apply and remove all types of casts, splints and orthopedic devices o Working towards gaining certification by completing the written, oral and practical exam of the CSOT
o Instructs patients in the care of casts and orthopedic devices
o Understanding of theory and application of skin and skeletal traction
o Understanding of the proper application of aseptic technique in dressing change, pin and suture removal, setting up surgical fields
o Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service while dealing with the public (patients and families), as well as various medical and non-medical professionals.
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication and decision-making skills.
o Applies NH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service.
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
